What is Gede Ruins?

From May 2026: citizens/EA pay KES 200 adult / 100 child (residents USD 6/3; foreign USD 8/4 ? confirm). Open daily 8am-6pm; guides available at the gate; eCitizen payment.

Gede was a wealthy Swahili trading town of ~2,500 people, abandoned in the 17th century for reasons still debated ? one of Kenya's most atmospheric archaeological sites.
