What is Gonarezhou National Park (Chiredzi)?

Gonarezhou National Park covers over 5,000 square kilometres of wild lowveld along the Mozambique border, about 55 km from Chiredzi. It is known for its large elephant herds, lions, wild dogs, and the dramatic Chilojo Cliffs—red sandstone cliffs rising about 180 metres above the Runde River. Families can self-drive the river roads or join guided game drives from lodges such as Chilo Gorge. The park is unfenced and genuinely wild, so it is best for families with children who can respect wildlife and handle long, dusty drives.
