What is Kisumu Museum?
Kisumu Museum, run by National Museums of Kenya, opened in 1980 in Milimani Estate along the Kisumu–Kericho highway. Its largest exhibit is Ber-gi-dala, a life-size model of a traditional Luo homestead with a man's house, granaries, livestock corrals and the homes of his three wives and eldest son, with signs and recordings in Luo and English.
Outdoor pavilions hold an aquarium of Lake Victoria fish, a snake pit, a crocodile enclosure and tortoises, plus TARA rock art moved here for protection. Allow 1.5 to 2.5 hours.
