What is Mnarani Ruins?

Mnarani Ruins crown a bluff above Kilifi Creek: the remains of a 14th-century Swahili town ? two mosques and tomb pillars wrapped in giant baobab roots ? with a stunning view down the creek to the ocean.

From May 2026: citizens/EA pay KES 200 adult / 100 child (residents/Rest of Africa USD 6/3; foreign USD 8/4 ? confirm). Open daily 8am-6pm, eCitizen payment, guides available.

Mnarani was a Swahili trading town abandoned in the 17th century ? its great mosque and pillar tombs survived under baobabs that are now centuries old themselves.
