What is Ol Pejeta Conservancy?

Ol Pejeta is a not-for-profit conservancy of about 90,000 acres (360 sq km) on the equator west of Nanyuki, about 3.5 hours north of Nairobi. It has the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, with more than 130 black rhinos, and is home to the last two northern white rhinos on Earth. It is also the only place in Kenya where visitors can see chimpanzees, at the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, which was set up with KWS and the Jane Goodall Institute.

Daily entry covers self-drive game viewing, the chimpanzee sanctuary, the Morani Information Centre, Baraka the blind rhino and a nature trail. Specialist experiences such as northern white rhino visits, lion tracking and night drives cost extra. A day visit is possible but busy, and two or three nights give a better balance.
