Samkele Park means “welcome” in Ndebele and was created as Victoria Falls’ first public park, free and accessible to all. It sits on the boundary between low- and high-density neighbourhoods and is deliberately designed to bring different communities together. The park has shaded green spaces, brick pathways, a children’s play area, an outdoor calisthenics gym, public toilets, and Zimbabwe’s first public skatepark, built in collaboration with the Push Project. It is a genuine community asset rather than a tourist attraction, which makes it a refreshing, low-cost family stop.
