What is Wli Waterfalls?
Wli Waterfalls, also called Agumatsa Falls, is the highest waterfall in Ghana and West Africa, in the Agumatsa Wildlife Sanctuary in the Volta Region. The lower falls are reached on a 20–40 minute walk through forest, crossing streams and passing butterflies and birds; the upper falls are a longer, steeper hike for older children.
The walk to the lower falls is gentle enough for primary-school children, and the spray from the falls is a relief in the heat. Guides are available at the entrance and are worth hiring for the upper falls.
Wli Falls is inside the Agumatsa Wildlife Sanctuary, which protects forest and birdlife and is managed with the local community.
